We asked WorldVentures Foundation volunteers for stories and experiences and this was Kim Velasquez’s response:
The WorldVentures Foundation provides a platform to engage with the community on many levels and volunteer and give back in different ways. I absolutely love the volunteer days at the Boys & Girls Clubs. I never miss one, and I have now started to help manage them. I have participated in several volunteer trips, including a few in Guatemala. I’m leading another bottle school trip in May and most recently I took a volunteer trip to Machu Picchu, which was unbelievable. The experience was so much more than I anticipated. We spent the night in the community with a host family in their home and it was unlike any volunteer trip I have been on. I think more nonprofits should embrace this type of interaction.
Through all of this, I have become part of this huge network of people who have a heart to give. We are looking to start spreading some holiday cheer through the Boys & Girls Clubs within our own communities. I have already been a part of an amazing project for several years at a club in Denver and we have it dialed in now so that we can start replicating that in all over the world.
We were just talking about this in Las Vegas. I’m really excited to be able to help get this started to create a ripple effect and just get people engaged in their own communities. Giving back shouldn’t be something people do just when they travel somewhere. There are needs all the time everywhere and that is what WorldVentures Foundation has brought to my life –the desire to help more and to plug into a system and take action.
